Holm, Sweet Holm

LIKE Father O'Flynn, who had "a wonderful way wid him," Captain Sidney Holm, of Wellington, has attained a success in which a pleasant manner and an inborn courtesy have played a leading part.

He is the Big Chief of the Holm Shipping Company — that solid, reliable concern which derives a right tidy revenue from those stubby, squat, but efficient ships, "Hoimdale," "John" and "Progress," the Three Graces of the ocean, which will sail anywhere as long as they have a hatful of steam and an inch of water to spare.

Storms may come, storms may go; but the. roughest sea cannot hold up a Holm steamer. They get there every time. -

Captain Holm is as good on the bridge of a ship as he is at an executive's desk in his business. Was he not the "Old Man" — a nautical expression which speaks of respect and trust — on the good ship "Hoimdale" when she came to New Zealand some five or six years ago?

A business man with a sailor's courage and resource — no wonder New Zealand shipping' circles are proud of Captain Sidney Holm.
