ON THE MAT

f)ENIZENS of the Maitland coal*J fields have been bitten by the wrestling bug. Up there now are Ad Santel, light-heavy champion of the world, and Walter Hogg, a New Zealand champion. The pair met at Cessnock on Saturday night. Though the Maorilander weighed 14.7 to Santel's 13.2, the American proved his master and won by two .falls /to one. Santel's knowledge was too great and he was too scientific for the New Zealander, who was but a mere plaything in the hands of Santel. Hogg is to meet Walter Scott at Newcastle on Friday night over ten rounds.—By Cable.—From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Sydney Rep.
