AT WINGATUI SATURDAY
Oamaru Meeting Being Held
(By '.'The Toff.") By kind permission of the Dunedin Jockey Club the summer attraction of the Oamaru Jockey Olub will be held at Wingatui on Saturday next.
THE Oamaru Cup of 250 sovs. will then be decided. Of the original entrants eight candidates have survived acceptance day. Battlement may not be quite at his best, but Pink Note is nearly at the top of his form and should go a good race. If the track is heavy Taboo will be euited for in mud he is a champion. The English mare, Celerity 11., has.baen striding along beautifully •t Inveroargill, but she may fail for want of a race. . Not so with John Bradbury. He is very well. Wingatui and Plton should be behind him, but at the weights Ark, 'Royal must be regarded as John Bradbury's most serious opponent. So just to make it plain, Ark Royal,
John Bradbury and. Taboo may go best. In the Jumpers* Flat, Wharncliffe and Thistlecrown look to be too good for Beauty Light and in the Novice Stakes, Court Jester and Dark Spot may command attention. ,< Amorist and Brightling will have a few.friends in the Grange Handicap, but in the Flying Handicap Spearmaid may keep Receipt and . Solrose very busy.
For the Farewell, Sohottische may be a strong fancy. Next In demand may be Lucy Lopket. Regarding the trotting events Stockade Junr. may prevail in the "Walkaura Handicap In which Tennessee's Child and Slump will be his most dangerous opponents. In the Wingatui Handicap, Logan Brae and Drake may be conspicuous at the finish.
