A Musical Drake
A HUGE audience, so still that a pinfall would be noticed — a piano
softly playing an accompaniment — a singer whose rich voice dies away to a note like the whisper of an old violin, only to return a second later with all the resonance which only inborn talent and years of consistent training can give; tumultuous, thunderous applause . .. . Ernest Drake has finished his
song.
To toddle up an octave or two and attain an extremely high "G" or to go to the other extreme and give a shock to a very low "C" is all m the day's work for Ernest Drake, singer and good fellow, of Dunedin.
For years past, the dulcet tones of Ernie's voice have been m very great demand m the southern centre. Drake can certainly sing and he is one of those rare artists who will acknowledge ability m another. Experience and success have not spoiled Drake.
