"Hark! Hark!"

GORDON HARKNESS, B.D.S. (which interpreted ' means Bachelor of

Dental surgery), of Wellington, is a New Zealander.

The cherished letters after his name came as a result of the ability he showed whilst at the Otago University, that great stone building m Dunedin which has produced a goodly number of men now worldfamous m the sphere of science, surgery, medicine and letters. The same aptitude he showed for the theoretical side of his work has been continued m actual practice. Harknesg is a. patient, gentle surgeon, with a deft touch which only complete knowledge and experience can give. True, he knows what there is to know about molars,

incisors

and canines.

He wields forceps and other instruments, usually regarded us .me vehicles of exquisite torture, with a skill that makes pain obsolete.

But "Hark" has other interests In life. He knows the joy which comes of a big armchair, a good book and a pipe. Some are harsh enough to say that the pipe should* have been pensioned off years ago.

However, old friends are hard to part, and, for a long- time to come, great quantities of black tobacco will be pressed into its sizzling, fruity bowl.
