THE Wingatui trainer, C. Giesler, has *■ Receipt nearly jumping out of her skin. She will pay her way at tho Canterbury Jockey Club's gathering. Comic Song gathered some easy money at Gore, -where the others could scarcely make him gallop fast enough to get warm. He will go well m the Stewards' Handicap at Riccarton. He is a better horse than when he won the big sprint last year. Pink Note made the opposition look silly at Gore. He won with his ears pricked. While his form there was scarcely good enough to rave over, it is certain that the outings will put him m good shape for bigger things at Riccarton, where he should be very difficult to beat m some of the minor contests. Sparkling Eyes led all the way to score very easily at Gore. She is a sister to Listening Post and should pay her way on the Southland circuit at Christmas time. Equerry acted fairly well at Gore and at Dunedin, but he will have to improve considerably to have any chance m the New Zealand Cup. It is over two years since Captain Sarto won a race. Only a few months ago D. Kilkilly gave him to "Put" Hogan, who was not long m winning a race with the gelding.

Though Footfall has disposed of his assignments m a tradesmanlike manner, the fact of him only having two races has caused backers to go off him for the New Zealand Cup. The Autumnus gelding is as fit as hands can make him and his work has been attractive. Notwithstanding, the "heads" prefer Rapier.
