UP AND OVER
Looking Over The Jumpers
Tracks are getting hard these days and there is too much jar m them for the hurdlers. THUS from now on it is the rule to *■ find hurdle fields falling off. However, at Riccarton .on Saturday, there is a good field engaged. To get fifteen acceptors at this time of the year is something of a feat. There are some pretty good horses engaged, too. First, there is Wharncliffe, winner of the National. He performed fairly well at Wingatui and will do so on Saturday if the ground is not too hard. In August Aberfeldy gave every indication of making a class hurdler, and — though he has not had a race over the battens since then — he may be relied upon to go well. Koauau and Tarleton may not appreciate the two-mile journey, but Dubious should be able to see it out. 'Kaikahu, if freshened up, would have a chance, hut Santiago may not be up to winning. The bracket, Peneus and Red Fuchsia, may be the best of the others, but actual form points to ABERFELDY and ' WHARNCLIFFE.
