The seven-furlong Linwood Handicap has its fair share of smart hack performers. • THE field will probably thin ' down a little, but whatever drops out will affect the standard of the event. With a majority of the runners hailing from south, the winner may come from there. ■One that is fancied greatly is Moratorium and even with 8.12 the Motukarara winner will take some silencing. Paper Boy should be better for his Trentham outings and another Riccarton competitor is Hoylake, which is also m another race. Vigilance, if started m this, would have many admirers, for she is running m good form at the present period. Fee Simple was noticed coming on nicely when he finished second to Duke Abbey at Trentham. This time he will have an extra furlong of ground. Spode slipped the field the other day at Akaroa, but that will be hard to accomplish this time. Those that take the eye are MORATORIUM, FEE SIMPLE and VIGILANCE.
