U "THERE are bargains far and wide, 1 if you could but get inside. .. ." Thus wrote a local humorist of Timaru m honor of the big drapery stores owned and very efficiently managed by Timaru's very own Tommy Thomson. For many years, Tommy has shown the Timaru housewives how to save money per medium of his bargain sales. And, when Thomson says a thing is a bargain, it is so! His stores are crowded, it is true; but they're crowded with the right things. Thomson shows stuff for the purpose of selling it — not keeping it. He has grown with Timaru. Farseeing and careful, he laid his plans years ahead, thus causing the scoffers to snigger somewhat. But the fact that everything has turned out ac-' cording to schedule has made the unbelievers look rather green. Call m one day. You'll see a rather short man buzzing around somewhere between the haberdasher-^ and the men's wear. If you say: "How do you do, Mr. Thomson?" he'll smile sweetly and continue on his way. For on Tommy's coat-of-arms is deeply engraven; "To waste time is to waste the profits."
