THEY'RE ALL IN AT ADDINGTON
How Trotting Cup Candidates Are Going (By "The Toff.") The candidates for the New Zealand Trotting Cup have entered upon the final stage of their preparation.
SOME have visited Addington, where their essays have thrown light on their condition and prospects for the big contest. Great Bingen was sent two miles last week, and considering that he had three weeks m which to complete his training, it is certain that he will be right at his best by Cup day. He tired over the last furlong. Withers has him m perfect condition to receive a few searching work-outs, which the champion must have to fit him for a supreme contest. Many favor his chance for the big race, but as m previous years the back-marker has a stiff job to negotiate such a field and win. Cardinal Logan and Talaro continue to head the list as favorites. , Cardinal Logan is doing splendidly, and Talaro's two efforts at Auckland will enhance his chance. He is very well and it is only a question of him being Just right on the
day to make it hard for the others to finish m front of him. A horse that is going particularly well is Black Admiral. He is a much- improved pacer and his work has been most satisfactory. To date he has tramped a mile m 2.11 3/5, which he did m convincing style, and has compassed a mile and a-half m 3.22. Peter Bingen is another candidate that is pleasing the track-watchers, but Logan Chief's effort has not impressed anybody. It is thought that he is suffering from an affliction which at times interferes with his breathing. At Addington on Thursday last Prince Pointer reeled off a couple of miles m 4.28 1/5. He is on the big side, but m perfect health to stand the winding-up portion of his preparation. At the moment, Talaro, Cardinal Logan, Black Admiral and Kohara are the popular fancies. :mttiiiußii<iiiiiimnmipnimmunMromiMiiiii»i)»iiniiitwiiiii»miiniiiioiJU»imiu«ii»iMiiiMni«
