POINTERS FOR GREYMOUTH
Some Horses That Threaten Danger In Saturday's Events
(By "The Toff.")
The two-day fixture of the Greymouth Trotting Club is very popular with the light-harness fraternity. It will take place on October 22 and 24.
THE first event, the Introductory Handicap, will appeal to followers of Doric and Great Audo. They are promising novices. Homelight may be their most dangerous opponent. Taipoiti will enjoy the distance of the Petrie Handicap; so will Connie Audubon and Nelson Boy. In the Mawhera Handicap, Young Author and Orphan read well. They are off the limit. Of the others, Jackie Audubon and Lady Matchlight might have most to say. Regarding the Royal Oak Handicap, Taipoiti may experience some difficulty in staying out 12% furlongs. Nancy McKinney is fast; so is Dolores. Then there is Nelson Wood. So please yourself. Great Audo is in the Blaketown Handicap, in which Horotane threatens most danger.
Among the numerous unknown candidates a Cup aspirant may be hidden. One never knows. The star event is the Greymouth Handicap, which will be contested by some of our best horses. Logan Holme will handle the small track, but Bonny Logan should prove too good for him. Golden Devon is a champion on the Greymouth course and might easily be in the picture. Of the others, Peter Bingen appeals most. It really looks as if Bonny Logan, Golden Devon and Peter Bingen will occupy the stage at the finish. Over a mile in saddle, Royal Authoress and Orphan should give the rest of the field a headache. They are in the Diggers' Handicap. And in the Aviation Handicap, Lady Matchlight, Kyana and Asset should I fight out the money.
