A REAL TEST
Waikato Hunt Cup On Monday
(From "N.Z. Truth's" Special Auck-
land Rep.)
It was only to be expected that there would be a reasonable acceptance for the £700 Waikato Hunt Steeples at Cambridge on Labor Day. And so it is. THE country at Cambridge is not easy and has to be cleared. Beau Cavalier came to grief in this race last year when made a hot favorite. Racing at Te Rapa this week-end may throw some light on the prospects of contestants, but it is hardly likely that the public will go past Pendavies, Banjuke, Frisco Jack, Maidos, Hypothesis, Wiltshire and Glendowie. All these have displayed some form worthy of support. There is a belief that Glendowie is likely to turn out a first-class per-, former over country. Unless Frisco Jack races right at Te Rapa right up to his boom, it will not be surprising to find the Lucullus hunter more strongly supported on Monday. Their best form also entitles Banjuke, Pendowies, Frisco Jack and Hypothesis to spirited support. Nevertheless, Glendowie will have an army of friends and this race should be a good test as to his real promise.
