FRIENDLY FELLOW
THAT wise old saw: "Never judge a man by his looks or by the clothes | he wears." might well be applied to Frederick William Hart, clerk of the court at the magisterial seats of justice in Wellington. This much, however, can be gauged from his outward appearance — he is always nattily attired. His rather stern features leave the wholly incorrect impression that he is the same right through. This is not the case. F.W.H. is the most kindly-disposed man one could wish to meet, and if he presents a somewhat severe exterior to the outer world, underneath there beats a kindly and sympathetic heart. Once you get to know him and have dug beneath the surface, you will find his a very obliging nature, while the quiet smile that lurks around the corners of his mouth and in his eyes gives the lie direct to any word harshly spoken. Hailing from Central Otago, he brings into all his dealings that cautious strain which is inherent in all men of the south.
