Seventh Heaven

EVEN m that most astonishing of all *"• arts, the photodrama, where any miracle is possible, it is not often that two stars appear m the same picture. In fact, it had never occurred until the production of "Seventh Heaven," the Fox version of Austin Strong's stage play of the same name which is to be screened m New Zealand m the near future. Critics heard that the work of the two leading characters was of an unusual nature, but went to the premiere expecting to be bored. Then, the miracle came to pass, and they saw the coming into being of two new stars. From the first scene of this glorious love story, Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell, the leading artists, held the audience spellbound by the power and sincerity of their portrayals, and left the cynics without an argument, without any cause for sarcasm — with only praise for the direction, the treatment and the artists. Audiences were transported to the seventh heaven of delight by their acting, while the story left them constantly between cheers and tears. # # # Good As Gold A PARAGRAPH m the theatrical " notes of a Wellington paper states that life m the motion picture centre of Los Angeles is quite respectable. H.M.V. 82436. Gramophone lovers trho hear Alfredo Rode, a newcomer to H.M.V., In Paganlni's "La Clochette," and "The Dance of the Goblins," by Bozzini, will, one feels sure, watch nig career with intense interest. Both are display pieces In which Rode is shown to have a wonderful pizzicato technique. Perhaps his nefact contributions will be more strongly contrasted.
