Frolics — Farewell

WELLINGTON theatregoers will regret the departure of the Midnig-ht Frolic's from His Majesty's Theatre. This bright combination has provided excellent entertainment during a long season m the capital city and from Clem Dawe to the unseen "props" the show's popularity has been 100 per cent. The Frolics put on their X last programme on Saturday night and if Rumor is to be relied upon the show should be great. Stud Foley and his revue company will follow the Frolics at this theatre. * # * "G&S." Again "DUDDIGORE," the old-new Gilbert *V and Sullivan comic opera, is to be presented at the Grand Opera House, Wellington, by J. C. Williamson's specially selected company on ', fed.'osday next, October IS. It set all London talking and beat many of the old favorites m public esteem. It has tuneful music aplenty, sparkling dialogue and laughs galore. The scenery and dressing are m the firm's best style — and isn't that the hall-mark of excellence? As to the cast, when we state that it includes such favorite and talented artists as Jas. Hay (principal tenor and producer), Charles Walenn, John Ralston, Strella Wilson, Patti Russell, Bernard Manning, Winifred Williamson, isn't that equivalent to saying that the very best m comic opera will be given? And other G. and S. favorites too. "Mikado" .on October 21, "Patience" on Saturday, October 22 (with matinee), "Yeoman of the Guard," October 24, "lolanthe," October 25, "Gondoliers," October 26 (with matinee), "Pinafore," October 27, "Princess Ida," October 28, and "Pirates of Penzance," Saturday October 29 (with matinee). .# # * Thrilling "Shot " ANE of the most remarkable "shot*" v ever attempted m a motion picture is to be put Into Fred Thompson's production, "Jesse James," which is now being made for Paramount. Thirty men are to climb from horses into the car windows of a passenger train travelling at the rate of thirtyfive miles an hour. It is to be a spectacular train holdup by Jesse James. Fred Thompson, as the famous outlaw, will lead the otunt on his white horse, "Silver King." He has already experimented on the speed and his ability to make the transfer and members of the unit are now scouring the Far West for thirty cowboys who think they have nerve enough to try it.
