Lysander s Prospects In Champion Plate (From "N.Z. Truth's" Wanganui Rep.) Wi Rayner had every intention of starting Lysander m the Champion Plate at Trentham if all went weli with the son of Absurd — Pennon m the meantime. IP the knock he sustained at Ellerslie interferes with his preparation to any extent, however, he will not be a starter m the weight-for-age event. Though Lysander has run some of his best races at Ellerslie, -he has on several occasions struck himself when galloping the reverse way and his trainer has always been as careful as possible with him. There are some who think the distance of the Champion Plate will find Lysander out, but if he can be. landed at the post fit and well, the son of Absurd will run a great race at Trentham if the going is firm. So far Curries horse has not struck r Ills best form this season, but he was [ coming on nicely and promised to be m great shape for the "Wellington i meeting with, a race or two at Ellerslie. r It is to be hoped that he will take bis place m the field for the Champion Plate, as he is brilliant enough to extend even Limerick if he can run out the mile and a-quarter, to which be win probabl7 prove equal.
