Royal Mint's Cup Display Royal Mint's dash for the Mitchelson Cup was a repetition of th» effort when he missed, the Avondale Cup a fortnight earlier. Goldsbro 1 did his best „ to keep a favorable position earlier m the Mftchelson, but the horse could not be persuaded to make the forward move. He was m a tangle racing down from the half-mile, and when he did get clear on the outside he put m a formidable dash the last furlong, but could get no nearer than fifth. It was probably his condition that was telling .over some of the others at the finish of twelve furlongs, but the effort came too late. One thing which has impressed itself on "Truth" by Royal Mint's finishing dabs m both the Avondale and. Mitchelson Cups is that he is a true stayer, and that if he» was nursed for a race like the Auckland Cup and fluked the going soft he would give the stake a decent shake. This is mainly because he is down at the right place m poundage. Of course, he would not want racing off his tegs m the meantime. He is still m the N.Z. Cup at time of writing, but the Riccarton turf is hardly likely to be caught to his fancy. : .
