BOLLARD HANDICAP
Terence Dillon Badly Treated (By "The Toff.") Shine Soon, who has a mile record of 2-11 4-5 and an Ashburton Cup to his credit, is on 4.35 m the Bollard Handicap at Wellington.
IF this is a coi-rect assessment, then Terence Dillon, who won a mile and a-half event at Addington, should have a start from Shine Soon. At Wellington he is asked to concede Shine Soon 12yds. But that is not the worst. ' At Forbury Terence Dillon was handicapped on 4.-36. He competed twice at the meeting and was genuinely defeated, yet at Petone he is placed on 4.34. On top of that Terence Dillon has only 12yds from Nimble Direct, who annexed a two -mile contest at Addington, going 4.33 2/5. Terence admittedly looks like a high -class pacer, but the handicappers should not handicap him as such till he proves it. On what he has done to date he is entitled to be on a 4.36 mark. In reviewing the field for the Bollard Handicap, to be decided at Petone on Saturday next, one cannot help being Impressed with the chances of Shine Soon and Nimble Direct — that is, if the latter can handle a grass course. William the Great and Stunt. Artist enjoy the limit. . , SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMIIIIIIIIIIIIMIIIIIIIIIHIIIIIIIIIIIMIIIINiIIMiiiiMiiiiMMIIIIIIIIIIIIMIIIIIIII
.William the Great. is a promising pacer that can be depended, upon to go an honest race. He is very^ well, and if anything happens to the more favored ones he will get the: money. As it is necessary to do this review before the acceptances are known, one is m doubt as to whether Terence Dillon. will be a competitor. ...If his owner starts him, the Author Dillon gelding will take a power of beating. Jewel Pointer, Menember and Silk Thread will have to .improve to beat several of their opponents. .Billy Sea and Doctor Dillon are a useful pair, but both should be held safe by Nelson Fame and Trenand. As for Native Chief, he will have to improve on anything he has yet done to get the money. Summed up, SHINE SOON, TERENCE DILLON, and WILLIAM THE GREAT stand out pre-eminent among the field.
