Evidently the fall Eurythmic got On the training track at Rand wick did not affect him as the-Westral'iah was able to clean up the weight-for-age events m addition to the Sydney Cup. Three yearlings were handled by G. Jones at Napier prior to his move to Riccarton. They were a Feramarz— Phi-ill colt, a Kilbroney — Grey Linnet filly and an Absurd— Ursula filly. Johnny Walker has been showing a bit of form of late and il is quite on the cards that he will win a race and m part repay H. ■ How.c for the trouble he has taken with tho aged Martian gelding. T. After scoring m 'the Autumn Stakes on yie opening day. the Westralian crack came out on Monday and won the Sydney Cup with 9.8 m the saddle.; . The Grand National ..Steeplechase course at Aintree is considered the most formidable m the world, and there are frequently many falls. The race last month was a record m this respect, the winner, the Irish gelding Shau'n Spadah (lflaster Prize— Ruxialka) being the only • one of the 37 starters to stand up: Five others were remounted, and four completed the course, the rider ol* the second (Mr. H. A. Brown) doing .so with a broken collarbone. Probably when full accounts of the race come to hand,* we shall find that the chapter of accidents was partly accounted for by there being such a huge field.

The youngster was formerly a maneater but he is now very quiet and goes along like an old horse. The three-year-flld Martial Dance has again been put into work by A: Mclvor. It was intended to start again on Primum, but he was kicked by Mantua so will have to get a further spell. Marble Alley, the half-brother to Radial, is trained at Hawera by J.
