JIM THE MILKER.
•I'l give yer to understand that When me and the bosses wife got to Dunedin. we were received with grea^ applause. Durham and Alderney was capering on the whari, yer never I seed finer kids, my oath they are beauties. Well we (me and the bosses wite) had some trouble as to how we could get to me hotel, first one then another rushed to shake hands with me, then they axed where is the bosses wife ? For God's sake let us see her, how is the child ? At last the perlice had to interfere and' clear the streets so that we could get some rest. The leading citizens at larst formed themselves into a deputation and approached me axing when they would see us (me and the bosses wife) so that we could discuss the hell-fire dairy trade, where the children are abused to such an extent that even the devil weeps. I gave some good advice, but as lam going to address the coves m Dunedin and Invereargill I ain't going to give the show away, the Press Association will keep yer posted on this important job. At this date the people tells me that no such, reception was ever given to anyone ; Governor Plunk himself has no show with me. The bosses wife was .cheered all through' the streets. It was a proud day ; even Mr McGruther wept. Let me inform yer that we were glad to j get under hatches m our hotels. .> The i bosses wife is giving an address m i a few days to the Young Woman's Christian Association, and I am ■ holding a meeting to recon up Jim Gibbs and Holy Moses North. I intend to deal with North with soft hands as I converted him. Yer notice that he was rampaging against landlords and. usurers, "Truth" has brougbtt him to Ms senses. No parson can stand m the way of "Truth" however much they may want to do so, the fact remains that the torch of truth an-d light is knocking parsons endways, and they don't know where they are. Did you ever see a parson at a tea fight scoffing ham sanwiches, while the other coves Cthe audience) were trying to gobble a hard bun ? Well, it is a lesson, yer parson champing his jaws, smacking his lips, and the other coves going to the nearest pub to get relief. Then the- same coves preach against the evils of drink and gjluttony, while they themselves are as full of drink and tucker as they can hold. What good is it for these jokers to preach t: the Word ?" It is no use, and the people laughs atthem. The bosses wife considers all parsons frauds since the time that one of them attempted to assault her when she was a young girl, when %he gave him a clout under the year, knocking him into the gutter. It was a sad sight to" see that shining light making off to his church, the bosses wife chasing him into the pulpit. My oath ii lie had not got up quick she would have had the liver out. of him. All this, sir, by the way. In me next I'll let yer no. how we are getting , on. JIM THE MILKER. Dunedin.
