SUSSANAH'S SOSSLE.

Quite a remarkable case came bafore the -bench «at the Chris.tchurch Magistrate's Court tliis week when the charge against a single drunk was called on. The wolnan, whose name is Sussanah Andrews, was jugged the other day on a charge of Looze, but she was m such a fearful physical state that she had to be remanded to the hospital for medical treatment. Well, Sussanah was to have been brought up for another kind of treatment at the Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, but the singular statement was made by SubInspector Norwood that a message had been received from the Hospital that the woman couldn't appear, as all her clothes had to be destroyed. They were filthy, and full of vermin. They ha,d started to walk about the ward, and some of the garments were escaping through the window when they were captured and burnt. So the woman,, who is a. confirmed drunkard, and who leads a most dissolute life, had to stop m bed until other articles of attire were provided for n?r. This was done, and j the drinky lady was dealt with next day. She us a woman of means, and had to pay for her togs as well as the fine.
