POSTAL PARLEY.
A Grunt ,
- Gray.
Is the Service BadJy iMaaaged or
Under-manned ?
The wonderful Wellington Post Office is again putting up records. This deponent was shown a .letter posted at Lyttelton on Friday last, and clearly date stamped 7.40 a.m. on the 16t'h, yet instead ctf the addressee getting this on Saturday morning it was not delivered till 10 a.m. 'on Monday iri-ornimr. . Cases similar to this are constantly being brought under the notice of "Truth," and it is nearly time some of the highly paid big guns got oiit of their easy chairs and had a stroll round. One or two things is very apparent, either the place is understaffed, or the heads are incapable of getting work done systematically. Surely the postmen could foe delayed a little till they had. all *the southern letters sorted (it would not matter so much about papers), and more men might be put on this particular branch ofwork. While on the subject it would be well to remind the secretary of the General Post Office, or his deputies, that Ms action m refusing to sien the various vouchers for the men's overtime, worked as far back as last Christmas, is causing the greatest dissatisfaction throughout the mail department: ••: A reminder is probably all'that" is necessary. Nuff sed.
