Hock Keys Retains the Title.
Turner all but Out m the Ninth Round,
when Police Interpose.
There was a good crowd at the Gaiety Club, Castlereagh-street, Sydney, on last Saturday night week, when Hock Keys and Bob Turner met to contest for the title of lightweight champion held by Keys. The day of the battle Turner had an abscess on the knee lanced and wore a bandage on it. The fighting was fairly even, and very fa&1» and exciting, with Keys generally m the lead, till m the ninth round, Hock pot one of the persuader sort home, which a Sydney paper tells of thus :
The ninth proved the .last. Turner stdmied Hock's left, and, working m close, landed both hands haird and often on the other chap.'s head. Hock again swung: either hand, but seldom scored, whilst Turner piled up points innumerable. Just here Keys' right suddenly crossed 3$ '/jjhe point,, and so accurately that Bflb^ was im mediately at his mercy— tottering, sagging, and dazed. Hock forced the staggering lad all over the. ring. Never before was * Turner so nearly knocked out, and pitying his helpless condition, blue-coated authority interfered. Referee Dawson declared .Keys the winner amidst the wildest excitement.
