ANNUAL SHOW.

The Wellington Kennel Club will hold its twentieth annual show next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (day and night) at the Drill Shed, next door to the Arcadia Hotel. No less than four hundred and sixtyeight entries have been received— a number unequalled by any previous dop- show held m the , colony. That widely known judge, Mr C. Court Rice, who, by the way, recently, judged a show at Brisbane, is coming under special engagement to the Club. A jjlass iar of beans is now. on view at Shepherd's (tobacconist), , Cuba-street. , Purchasers of admis- ' sion tickets are entitled to estimate the number of beans in' the jar, the prizes for the competition being pedigree puppies of the following breeds : bulldog, pointer, setter, Scotch terrier, fox terrier, and" cocker spaniel, m order to imbue the youthful mind with a liking for "man's most faithful friend" the Committee has decided to admit all,, children free on Thursday afternoon, between 3 and 5 o'clock, providing - they are accompanied by a parent or euardian. Among the, most novels exhibits are some Russian wolf- ' hounds, black pugs and Sir Joseph Ward's handsome Esquimaux, which , ! was born m- the Antarctic regionswith the Discovery expedition.
