Dunedin "Star" informs a correspondent that the lake within a lake is a small sheet of water on Manuka or Pigeon Island m Lake Wanaka. There are some peculiar features m connection v.ith the lake— viz.. it is about 100 ft above the level of Lake Wanaka, and no, one has been able to ascertain the source of its supply. It is on the summit of Manuka or Pigeon Island, ; with about only an acre of watershed around it. Even with the natural evaporation it has never gone dry, and the inference is that it draws its resources below the level of the lake from the high lands on either side. The mountains most near are the Minaret Range on the west side of .Wanaka and the Burke Range on the eastern jtfrie.
