", LONG RANGE OPENING COM- . PETITION. The Petone Rifle Club fired the opening match in the long iAnge series on Saturday with two shots;<of ten rounds * each at 800 yards. v";. Tho outstanding scores Were N. Craig 1 49, A. Ballinger and W.v Mclver 48, A. O'Donnell (twice), W. H. Ballinger, D, J. Guiney and A. Ballinger 47. N. Craig, with handicap, was top, and also wins the 1 C spoon; W. Mclver and A. O’Donnell, both win A spoons and'H. L. Rule the B- spoon. The veteran champion, A. Ballinger, again topped the score and is shooting equally as well as at any period of his career, and must bo reckoned with for the* championship. Tho following are .the scores:—'
