PERSONAL AND GENERAL (Prom Our Own Correspondent.) MASTEIUUN, December 4. The scliuoLs garden competition conducted by the Wairarapa P. and A. Tappin, It. Hawker, K. Brown 2; M. O’Loughlin, R. Barlow, F. Brazendale, P. Millichamp, R. Wallis 3. A six-roomed house at Lansdowce was gutted by fire. The hiuse was own?rl and occupied by Air H. J. Chesterman. The fire originated through a tin in which some spirit stain was being heated, melting. The contents escaped and quickly ignited the surrounding walls. The house was in* surer! for £6OO, and the contents for £3OO. Miss Allen has been appointed matron of the Masterton Methodist Children’s Home in succession to Sister .May, who has resigned in order to rake up her residence in Melbourne. Miss Webb, of Nelson, has been appointed first assistant at the home.
