CURIOUS SITUATION IN lOWA BANKS TEMPORARILY CLOSED. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. NEW YORK, December 1. As a result of the financial crisis in lowa, an unusual situation has arisen. In Mallard all the banks are closed for reorganisation, pending which the ancient system of barter has been revived, shfvices being traded for necessities, while farmers exchange products for merchandise.
