FRANCE NEEDS FIVE YEARS Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn. (Received December 2, 7.10 p.m.) LONDON, December 1. Since the Armistice 541,000 buildings have been restored in the French devastated areas; 26,583 miles of roads and 1181 miles or railroads have been reconstructed, and 5,000,000 acres of land has been put again under cultivation.
Nevertheless, five years will he required completely to wipe out the ravages of the war. The work of restoration has cost so far 70 milliards of francs.
