Business men are asking when the Pacific Cable Board intends to carry out the promised reduction in rates, which Sir James Allen said was likely when the duplication was completed. The new cable is working efficiently. The Bamfield-Fanning Island section has exceeded the contract specification, and when the new trans-Continental line is complete it will be possible to ascertain what reductions can be made.
