INJURY TO THUMB. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, November 29. In the Arbitration Court, Mabel Oakes, domestic servant, claimed from Alfred Holliday, hotelkeeper, of Warltworth, compensation for an injury to a thumb by the use of home-made soap. Plaintiff had signed a receipt for £7 2s 8d to the insurance company in full settlement, but said she thought it was for six weeks’ wages. Hs Honour said that unless it was competent legal advice the receipt would not be binding. The defenoe contended it was failsettlement, and the case was adjourned for a legal agreement to be submitted in writing.
