“HOME, JOHN!”
WOMAN SENT TO PRISON UNLAWFUL CONVERSION OF CAR. Catherine Donovan, a married woman, aged 40, stood beioro Mr J. H. Salmon, S.M., at the Magistrate’s Court on Saturday, charged with unlawfully converting to her own use. but not so as to be guilty of theft, a mo-tor-car, valued at £2OO, the property of * Christopher Pinnock. , Accused pleaded guilty to the chargo and also to a charge of stealing £1 16s lid, the property of the same person. “The facts in this case are ratliei unusual,” said Senior-Sergeant Lander, who added that Mr Pinnock left his car in Rolleston street on Friday evening, and the accused, who was in the vicinity, accosted a passer-by, and asked him to drive her to town in the Car, which, she said, belonged to her. The man drove her to a house in Taranaki street, and she went inside. While the man was waiting for her to return the owner of the car arrived. The accused was later identified in the street. She has been several times previously convicted. Accused was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment on the first charge, and was convicted and discharged on the second count.
