A PRIMITIVE CHURCH

In Sail Diego County, Southern California, may bo seen wliat is surely the most primitive church in the world. It is known as the Sancta Isabel Mission. and is used by the Indians of the district. The church is built of brushwood. the .entrance being effected by climbing a rude ladder. Two bells are suspended from a cross beam, and a rude cross of nine has been erected upon a small levelled surface, which is utilised for open-air services should the congregation be too numerous to be accommodated within the narrow limits of the brush shelter.
