AUCKLAND WOOL SALE
OFFICIAL REPORT RANGE OF PRICES. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, November 36. The official report of the Wool Brokers’ Association states that the wool sf d© opened with a strong demand, tke hu*Amg being spirited and genera), these conditions were maintained throughout the sale. The prices compared with those realised at the three previous sales held in New Zealand this .season showed a considerable advance, but in recording this advance the quality of wool had to be taken into consideration. The Auckland clip offered at the sale represented the best quality wool so far presented to buyers this season. The good clearance effected was due, in a large measure, to increased competition by Continental buyers compared with their operations at the southern sales. The top price of 20Jd paid on Thursday for nice, line of halfbred from Waiheke was not equalled to-dav. The next highest price of 19d was paid for a line of seven bales of excellent quarterbred from Ponui, another island m the Hauraki Gulf. An analysis of the prices shows that the bulk of growers will receive slightly less than was realised at the corresponding sale of last season. However, values for crossbreds, which comprise the bulk of the Auckland clip, were appreciably better than those established at the February sale last season. Bellies and pieces, crutchinge, and locks also made better prices than those obtained in February. The following table gives a range of the prices realised at sale compared with opening sale in November 1925. the figures for which are shown in parentheses : Fine halfbred. 26 to 56’s (58 to 56’s) super, 16|d to 20d (18R1 to 20d), average l-kl, 17*cl, 16(1 to 17*d (lad to 17Jd); inferior. 12d to 13$d. .
