MONEY STOLEN
TAKEN FROM LETTERS POSTAL CADET DISAPPEARS. Described as a cadet in the employ of tho Department of Agriculture, Kenneth Giiy, aged 18, appeared before Mr E. Page, S.M., yesterday to answer a charge of stealing postal notes and stamps to the value of £2O 18s 6d, the property of the New Zealand Government. Chief-Detective Ward informed the court that accused, who pleaded guilty, had opened letters containing subscriptions for a journal published by the department. He disappeared in November, 192 a, and went to Christchurch. Later ho workc‘l on a dairy farm, and while there was admitted to probation for two years. He appeared to be a boy who was easily led, and his mother attributed his lapse to associating with bad hoys. Accused was remanded till Tuesday next, ponding a report from tho probation officer, Mr T. P. Mills.
