MINERS BLOWN TO PIECES
BORED INTO A “MISS HOLE” TRAGEDY AT BROKEN HILL. Telegraph.— Assn. —Copyright. (Received November 25, 8.55 p.m.) SYDNEY, November 25. J. Fallitti * and E. Variessetta were working at the 1300 feet level of the British Mine at Broken Hill when they bored into a “miss hole.” An explosion followed, and both men were blown to pieces. Their remains had to be brought to the surface in sacks. A “miss hole” is the term applied to a hole in which there is an unexploded plug of gelignite.
