DEATH OF PRISONER

CRUSHED IN QUARRY remarks^by - coroner. Per Press Association. TAUMARTJNUI, November 25. An inquest on Arthur Hasler, aged 36 years, the prisoner who met his death on Monday at the Makntoke viaduct prison quarry through a fall of earth, was held before the district coroner, Air A. S. Laird. After hearing lengthy evidence the coroner returned a verdict of accidental death, and said he would be failing in his duty if lie did not call the attention of the Justice Department to the fact that there was no a certificated qunrrvman in charge of the work. It was clear the quarry was not now safe, and a keener supervision in such places was undoubfbdly necessary to safeguard human life.
