CHRISTCHURCH FIRE

STATIONERY destroyed. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH. November 25. A figlit of nearly two hours’ duration was made by the Fire Brigade against beat and smoke w&en a fire occurred in the premises or tho N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency, Ltd., at Hereford street, at 7.30 this morning. The fire broke out on the top floor, and there was little flame. Its seat proved so difficult to get at that smoke masks were necessary. The smouldering stocks of stationery proved verj difficult to deal with, and much watci had to be poured on, resulting in damage to the lower floors. All tho stationery stock was destroyed, the walls were damaged, and a hole was burnt in the roof.
