LONDON WOOL SALES Messrs Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report having received the following cablegram from their London .house, under date of the 24th instant:—"No wool sales have been held to-day, owing to thick fog." The Bank of New Zealand, produce department, has received the following advice from its London office, under date 23rd insfc.: —The sales have opened with moderate competition and large attendance of buyers. Compared with the close, of last series all qualities of merinos and crossbreds are £d to Id per lb lower. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house, under date 23rd instant There was a good attendance at the opening of the sales, competition by Home and German buyers being active, and prices, as compared with the close of the preceding series, ruled par to 5 per cent, lower for good and medium merino, and greasy crossbred, 5 per cent, to 7£ per cent, lower for inferior merino and clothing wool, and 5 per cent, lower for crossbred slipe. Th© opening catalogues were representative. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated 24th instant, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London "Wool sales commenced yesterday (Tuesday) with large representative attendance and fair competition, principally from German and Home trade.
