CANADIAN TOUR

ARRANGEMENTS COMPLETE CABLE TO PRIME MINISTER, Mr A. Varney presided at the meeting of the council of the New Zealand Football Association last evening. Present: Messrs A. J. Hyder, H. I. Graves, P. Rose, F. Campbell, F. Saunders, W. G. Bryce, B. L. Salmon, J. A. Milburn, and the secretary, Mr L. Atkinson. Matters concerning the Canadian tour were under review. Mr A. G. Hyder asked why South Canterbury had been overlooked in the itinerary, as Timaru was a big place. Mr Campbell said the question was one of finding a date. Mr B. L. Salmon said he thought a Saturday match would have brought better results at Wanganui rather than at Manawatu. He also thought the Canadians should meet Auckland earlier in the tour. Mr F. Campbell: It would not be fair to put them up against the strongest teem in New Zealand directly they got off the boat. Some members favoured sending the team back from Christchurch to Timaru to play South Canterbury on July 6th, coming straight from there to Wellington for the third test match. It was agreed to substitute South Canterbury for Masterton on July 6th. Mr J. M. Dawnie, of Auckland, was appointed advance agent, subject to salary, travelling expenses, etc., being agreed with the special oommittee dealing with the tour. The allocation of profits was discussed at the special meeting, and it waa decided that this be left until the end of the tour. Messrs Menziee and English dissented on the ground that the council should take all profits. This was approved. A sub-committee of Messrs Varney, Campbell, Salmon, and Graves was appointed to deal with matters connected with the tour, other than matters of policy. Tt was decided to cable to the Prime Minister asking him to congratulate the Canadian Prime Minister upon arrangements having been concluded for :he visit of a Canadian team to New Zealand.
