‘The Londoner’s Diary” in (lie ‘■Evening Standard” of Sepfember 7th. contained a paragraph which stated “The rase of bubonic plague reportef from Liverpool reminds us how for tunate we have been in London thanks to the efficiency of our put sanitary administration. • “There has not been a case of humor plague known in England and Waleduring 1924 and 1925. nor have am plague-infected rats been discovered during these years. The immunitv is partly due to the use of hydrocyanic acid gas. which has been widelv adopted for destroying Tats on hoard ships. “So effective has this treatment been that two of the medical offircrof the Ministry for Health naid a special visit to the United States in older to instruct our American shipping friends on methods of fumigation.”
