One of the series of enjoyable socials promoted by the members of the Huia Ladies’ Hockey Club was held last evening at the residence of Miss E. Charles, Willis street. Splendid music was provided, aud a varied programme of vocal and instrumental items was greatly enjoyed by those present. Several prizes were eagerly competed for, and the evening was voted ono of the most enjoyable and successful yet held.

It was intended that when the famous French airman, Captain Bene Fonck, left New York in his fcTant Sikorsky biplane, to fly across the Atlantic to Paris—the machine crashed at the start—he would take with him in specially sealed containers a hot dinner, which would be served in his honour when he reached tly> HoCriflon in Paris..
