HISTORIC ASSOCIATIONS
Historic associations are recalled by ihe death of Mr George Douglas Veitch, the head of an old Scottish family of that name, late of Eliock, Dumfriesshire. The late Mr Veitch was a great-grandson of Colonel Veitch, of Eliock, whose wife was a greatgranddaughter of Annie Laurie, of Maxwelltown, immortalised in the famous song. Eliock was the birthplace of the Admirable Crichton, whose father, a lord advocate, owned the estate during the jreign of Mary Queen of Scots.
