MARAMA’S MAIL
REGISTERED BAG TAMPERED WITH When the steamer Marama arrived from Sydney yesterday it was discovered that three mail bags showed signs of having heen tampered with. Two of / these had been repaired, and it is riot known where the repairing was done, but the work may have been perfectly legitimately performed and have taken jplac« in Sydney. Until' the list is checked over it will not be known whether anything is-miss-ing from these bags. .A slit had been made in tbe third bag* and tbe contents of one registered packet removed.
This is the second time recently that the Marama’s mail has received attention from , the last happening of ;his sort beint; a few weeks ago. Oh this occasion there were in the mail-room 1489 hags, and as the registered mail-hag is no different from any other the thieves were lucky to light upon a correct one.
