SOMETHING NEW IN SHOW STANDS With Sir Alan Cobhani’e feats still fresh in the public mind, the aircraft atmosphere pervading the design of the Armstrong-Siddeley, stand at Olympia is most opportune Two tall towers and their crossbeam are made of polished steel lattice-work and symbolise the 6teel construction of Armstrong-Siddeley airplanes. Dominating the crossbeam is a giant reproduction of . the ArmstrongSiddeley Jaquar engine used by Sir Alan Cobhara, while crowning each tower is a beautifully modelled Sphinx—a muchmagnified edition of the well-known Arm-strong-Siddeley radiator mascot. To complete the scheme, the projecting ends of the beams terminate in replicas of the Armstrong-Siddeley V-shaped radiator, the central portion carrying tbe name of the company carved in blue letters on a glittering aluminium background, illuminated by flood lights. The stand was designed by the aircraft enat the Coventry works.
