ACCIDENT AT QUARRY
PRISONER KILLED INSTANTLY ANOTHER’S LEG BROKEN. Per Press Association. TAUMARUNUI, November 22. Further particulars of the accident at a quarry at Makatoto viaduct, when, through a fall of earth and rock, a prisoner, Arthur Hasler, was killed, and a prisonei, Ronald Walter Neilson, received a broken leg, show that at 10 o’clock in the morning the men were carrying out drilling operations, when a fall of earth came down from 50 feet up the face of the quarry. Hauler was killed instantly, and Nellson’s leg was struck by a rock, causing a double fracture. Warder Raton, who was standing a few feet away, escaped uninjured.
