THE TRAIN MISHAP
EXTENT OF DAMAGE PASSENGERS ALARMED DRIVER'S HANDS CUT. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, November 22. A later message states that the express engine collided with the Glen Massev train which was standing at the Erankton end of the N'garuawalua station. The cab of the GletiMassey engine was driven against the end of the boiler and the engine derailed. The engine of the express had an axle box broken, coverings stripped off the various parts, aud the cab window broken. Ihe axle boxes t\ ero also stripped off the tender. The lirenia 11 of the express got his hands cut bv broken glass. The engine of the Glen Massey train scraped along the carriages of the express until the engine was pulled up. When the tram stopped the engine was locked to a carriage by a projecting roof. The passengers were considerably alarmed, and crowded out of the carriages. Scveial windows were also broken in other carriages, the heiu.iugs torn off, aud the roofs broken at the edge. r T . - The engine was in charge of Driver Riddick and Fireman Hulnres. Though the Glen Massey engine s cab was smashed and some of the engine controls destroyed the main bodi was apparently undamaged.
