OVER SEVENTY
AND GUILTY OF ASSAULT OLD MAN GAOLED. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, November 20, An assault upon A. H. Jones, cliief officer of the Relief Department of the Auckland Hdspital Bpard, had its sequel in the Police Court, when Kenneth McLeod, aged 75, appeared before Mr F. K.;Hunt, S.M. Sub-Inspector Lewin said accused went to the office seeking admission fo the Auckland Infirmary. He had been drinking, and was told by Mr Jones that while lie continued to drink the hoard could do nothing for him. When asked to leave the office, the old man struck Jones in the face, breaking his glasses and injuring his eyes, and as the result Jones was. confined to his bed. The accused Tad previously been convicted of atsault and drunkenness. Accused : ‘‘l had had a few drinks, and did not know what I was doing.’ The magistrate imposed a sentence of seven days’ imprisonment.
