SPARKLING COMEDY

“THE UNFAIR SEX.”AT THE GRAND OPERA HOUSE. Another large crowd visited the Grand Opera House last night, and thoroughly enjoyed every line of the witty dialogue in “The Unfair Se,” a sparkling farcical comedy, in three acts, presented by John Cunningham’s company of talented English artists. The plot of “The Unfair Sex” deals with promiscuous flirtation, the birthrate, the divorce court, and golf. There is not one dull moment during the whole performance, and the audience were kept in hearty laughter all the time. The situations in this farce are extremely novel, and the dialogue clever to a degree. In fact there are times when the audience sits up in its seats, and wonders just what can be said next. The broader parts of the comedy are well handled and even the most intimate conversations are spoken in a manner to which not even the greatest prude could . take exception. Miss Zillah Bateman proves herself a versatile actress as the wife who allows an admirer “just one little kiss,” and is horrified when she discovers her husband has done tbe same thing. Excellent support is given by Miss Vera St. John. Miss Henrietta Cavendish, Mr Norman Carter, Mr Campbell Copelin, Mr Frank Bradley, Miss Sylvia Clifton, and Mr Jack Phillips, all of whom are well placed. The play will be repeated for the last time this evening.

On Monday night “Eliza Come to Stay,” a notable London success, will have its initial performance.
