MAN POINTS PISTOL AT ANOTHER THREE MONTHS’ IMPRISONMENT. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, November 19. A charge of pointing a firearm at ihomas Martin, and also carrying a pistol without proper authority or sufficient purpose, was preferred against William Edward Cotter, aged 49 years, in the Police Court, today. Chief-Detective Cummings stated that the accused pointed a revolver at a man named Martin in the bar of an hotel, and said to Martin, “I will do for you!” Cotter, on November 10th, had been sentenced to six months’ imprisonment for vagrancy. He was a man with a record of previous convictions, who would Hot hesitate to use a revolver. Cotter told the magistrate he bought the weapon from a sailor and was trying to sell it. Ho admitted pointing it at Martin, but only in fun. “I knew that with my record I would not bo allowed to carry a revolver, and I knew that if the police saw me with it I would get three months,” he added.
